Breathing Exercises to Reduce Stress

One of the simplest and most effective ways to lower stress levels is through focused, deep breathing. It’s free, takes only a few minutes, and can be done anywhere.

How to Do It (Box Breathing):

  1. Sit comfortably and close your eyes.

  2. Inhale slowly through your nose for a count of 4.

  3. Hold your breath for 4 seconds.

  4. Exhale gently through your mouth for a count of 6.

  5. Repeat the cycle for 2–5 minutes.

Why It Works:

  • Slows heart rate and calms the body

  • Helps quiet racing thoughts

  • Grounds you in the present moment

When to Use It:

  • Before a stressful event

  • During moments of anxiety

  • At the start or end of your day

Small pauses in the day can make a big difference in how you feel.
